Otterly Irresistible (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild #1) by Erin Nicholas

A Review by Wendy

4.5 What's Not To Like Stars

Only Erin Nicholas could create another series that would cause laughing and snorting on the regular. Yes, if one was sipping a drink, I wouldn't put reading certain passages causing a Spit Take or two either. It is her special talent to take characters and make them relatable and fun, even when they may be grumpy as hell.

How can that be, Wendy...
Well, let's examine a few things...

We have the grumpy, grouchy wildlife vet, Griffin Foster.
It is the loss of the vet/zoo job he loved that has him down here in the Bayou taking care of this new petting zoo run by the out-of-control Landrys. He is learning their ways and it seems the only living things he can feel comfortable talking to are the animals he takes care of...

This causes all of the creatures to develop incredible crushes on him, making them follow him around endlessly. With these sweet souls, he talks, gabs, and shares all kinds of deep thoughts. The joke is he has no use for people...and reduces all sorts of communication to one or two words if possible when dealing with them.

We also have the beautiful, flirty, strong, Charlotte “Charlie” Landry. This is a Landry cousin who has been working in Paris doing marketing and branding. A perfect fit for her career, she loves to chat, present all sorts of ideas, and has the habit of not taking no for answer. Charlie is at the Landry's because of the weddings, sees Griffin, asks him for a dance, and he couldn't say no fast enough.

That will not do for Charlie. She follows him outside and sees him chatting and dealing with a group of animals circled around him. Hearing the way he talks to them, the tenderness and tone...It causes Charlie to advance and decide something should happen between them. It does and Griffin figures, Charlie is going back to Paris, so he will be able to go back to his singular life.

Instead, Charlie comes back, takes the job of marketing the new endeavor, And Is Staying. Gah...

Think of the older classic song, Something's Got To Give...

When an irresistible force such as you
Meets an old immovable object like me
You can bet just as sure as you live
Something's got to give
Something's got to give
Something's got to give

Oh and give it does, yum.

This is a perfect addition to all the Bayou goodness we have enjoyed by Ms. Nicholas. There is more to come, me oh my.

Erin Nicholas is the New York Times bestselling author of over thirty sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun. She loves to write about reluctant heroes, imperfect heroines and happily ever afters. She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).
