Heart Strings by Melanie Moreland

I have been new to Melanie Moreland, yes, idiot that I am...Because this is the second full novel I have read by her and I am sold. Sold on her ability to touch the reader just right if the reader is willing to be caught up in a terrific story. In Heart Strings, she took on more than just a love story, she took on life lessons we all need to heed.

Charlotte Prescott is in a lose-lose situation.
When she looks at the life she is living, she does not see any way to change it. She is the substitute for who her father wanted to be his right hand in the family business, she is invisible in the family that exists now, and the only pleasure she has is when she escapes her stressful day is by reading her books or baking.

Well, that was the case until that one fateful day she came to her home subway stop and there was this man singing while playing guitar and the music took her to another place...a place where she could breathe, where she could release all the stress of the day, and where the man playing gazed into her eyes and found her soul.

From that moment on, Lottie lived to just get through her workday and be on her subway train bringing her to the one place she lived for, the man with the voice, guitar, and the beautiful intense eyes only for her.

When Montgomery Logan looked up from playing in the subway, he locked onto a woman whose pain called out to him. There she was, hiding from everyone but him the pain and sorrow she carried. From the moment he saw her, there was this connection, this need for him to be there for her, to watch over her, and maybe, just maybe be able to lift the pain from her eyes and replace it with joy.

Logan was a man who had lived a life that taught him very hard lessons. He survived them, made a life for himself that proved to him, things, superficial, relationships, and stuff are a waste in his world. He had learned what worked for him and wanted to show Lottie, she had the ability to release all the pressures she felt. She deserved more...and if being there in the subway platform for her when she regularly arrived, then he would be there.

These two were tied to each other but never talking until one night, a night that would change everything for them both. It opened the door for Logan to finally have a conversation with Lottie and we are there for this lifechanging moment.

This story will sweep you away. You will fall hard for Logan. Really Hard. He is a man who understands Lottie and shows her what her life could be. He isn't an over the top Alpha Male but a man comfortable in his own skin so that he can listen to her and guide her to see a vision of more. He is supportive and protective.

And he is sexy, dirty talking, swoony, and a man who everyone would want to have in their life. Period.

Lottie is a woman who is very smart, capable, and emotionally lost. Her family was once a healthy unit, and then it wasn't. She seemed to carry the brunt of it and was denied the parental love she once had. Now she was mentally stuck working in the family business in a hostile environment every day.

When she had her first conversation with Logan, the connection was intense and real, a first in such a long time. This man-made her feel things want things, and remember what she wanted in the past.
Heart Strings has a flow, the necessary concerns, and a beautiful, satisfying outcome. This is a take me away read...where you can dive in, read from start to finish, and fall hard for these characters. I did.

Thank You, Ms. Moreland.

A bit about me:
NYT/WSJ/USAT International bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of lots of lovely years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling downstairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She's learned happily ever-afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.
