A Review by Wendy

Tattered Love (Needles Kiss #1) - Lola Stark

3.5 Hot, Dirty Talking, Steamy, Tattooed Stars

Synopsis

When ex-Special Ops bad-ass Mace walks into Needle's Kiss tattoo parlour, he never expected to find the girl who would turn his life upside down.

Hard as nails Scarlett has been unlucky in love: she’s been burnt, chewed up and spat out. Reluctant to have another relationship, can she keep her wits about her when hot-as-sin Mace walks into her tattoo parlor? Or will he break her down and leave his mark within her ink?

What starts out as a little fun, turns into something so much more.

Can Scarlett look beyond Mace's devastating past or will his demons come back to haunt them both?

Content warning: contains steamy, anywhere-goes sex, an alcohol induced embarrassing night out and two headstrong lovers taken on a whirlwind of crazy.

Review

This book had a lot going for it:

Strong, Independent, Beautiful Tattoo Artist/Business Owner
Incredibly Hot Ex Serviceman who captivates said strong beautiful tattoo artist/business owner

Secondary characters who have solid impact on above characters.

A feel for the artistry of ink and how it all is done; what it means to those who draw it and those who have it.

And most importantly... lots and lots of attraction, chemistry between the leads, Mace and Scarlet, and sex. I am talking a lot. ahmmm very creative and frequent.....

What was a bit of a problem:

Both characters have the required issues... some get worked out in a positive way... some not so much.

Mace gave me the most frustration. He know he should address some things with Scarlett and doesn't. Next scene, his not coming clean comes back to bite him. Things get "fixed" and then he does a repeat performance of behaving stupidly. Things work out in the end for these two but I felt manipulated by the way everything came down.

The positive is there room for this franchise to develop. The secondary characters have already drawn lines in the sand setting up the next book. There was some solid humor and the possible depth of family stories in the wings will allow the author to explore more as she goes forward. I look forward to see her takeoff.
