Safeguard (Speakeasy Taproom #9) by Stephanie Rose

A Review by Wendy

 4 Single Daddy, Daughter, And The Perfect One Stars
* * * *

 Spoiler Free-A Quick Review

This had so much going for it, a single dad who had devoted his love and attention to his daughter since day one. An opportunity to give his daughter the type of home she deserves in Vermont was too good to turn down when offered by the new chef at the Speakeasy.

This was how Matteo and his adorable daughter, Lauren, ended up living in a picturesque house with lots of grass and a play area for her.
This did cause a bit of a situation, though. By moving to Vermont, Matteo no longer had the safety net of his extended family helping him with Lauren.

Lauren's mom walked away when she was a baby. The marriage seemed good but being really young and then pregnant caused the mother to run. Matteo was young too but he stepped up and devoted himself to raising his daughter, he would do anything for her. Working at the Speakeasy was a good solid fit and figuring out the babysitting was something he would deal with.

Melanie is taking charge of her life. She had spent the last years putting herself behind her fiance's needs. She put going to graduate school to become the teacher she always wanted to be on hold for him. Well, shock of shocks, he came home one day and told her he was in love with another.

Terrific, Great...

So Melanie is getting herself together and is starting a waitress job at the Speakeasy. Her mother got her the position as a favor. Fingers crossed she will be able to fake it until she makes it.

On her first day, she meets Matteo and tries to not let how easy he is on the eyes get to her. She has a hard first day, gets through it and little does she know, she made an impression on Matteo, too.

The turning point for these two is Matteo's need for a reliable babysitter and how Melanie being able to step in with there is an emergency.

We have a couple who really is a good fit, a bit of arc in our guy's understanding of what is important, and a happy ending for Daddy, Daughter, and Melanie.
