I can only imagine his disappointment.

Five, Swoon and Faint Phone Sex, Stars!

Clever, creative stories are hard to come by.  Stories rich in color and character development can be hard to find.  And a story that has a unique approach to your typical billionaire bachelor and your saucy, quick-witted girl are one in a thousand.  Well guess what??  All three of these have come together to make a captivating and spellbinding story in The Billionaire’s Wake Up Call Girl by Annika Martin.  This is a story you should not miss.  It captivated me from the very first page, and made me laugh, gasp and keep turning the pages, anxiously wanting to find out what was going to happen next.  All I can say is that I simply loved this story!

Lizzie Cooper is a down on your luck former bakery owner.  It seems she doesn’t have the best skills in picking a boyfriend.  Why?  Because her last one absconded with all her money causing her Cookie Madness bakery to go under.  But Lizzie is scrappy.  She’s not down for the count by any means. She’s working to make a comeback by putting her marketing skills to work for Vossameer Inc., and if she can just hold on to her job there for just a couple more days she’ll make a hefty bonus.  That bonus will not only allow her to pay off some loan sharks (yup thanks to that scumbag boyfriend borrowing money from them in her name) but give her the chance to reopen her bakery with some careful planning. 

But first she has to deal with the uptight, controlling, extremely handsome and hot, scientist CEO of Vossameer as his wake up call person every morning.  It seems no matter how good looking or how smart or how many billions Theo Drummond has made developing a lifesaving medication, he can’t seem to manage an alarm clock all on his own.  And because he’s run through just about every service that does this, Lizzie, who has been tasked to find a replacement, picks herself.

This is where the fun really begins!  This is where your panties start to melt!! WOW, WOW and WOW!!!

It seems Lizzie is in the mood to vent.  I mean REALLY vent!!!  Through some comical twists, her first wake up call to Theo is very unorthodox.  She calls him about every foul name she can think of.  She tells him what is wrong with him…..and much to her surprise, Theo likes it.  He’s intrigued.  No one has ever talked to him like that, and to his surprise, he likes it…..and her.  Problem is, he doesn’t know who she is and begins the quest to find her.  But before he does, get ready for some unbelievable phone sex that will cause you to catch your breath and then grab a fan to cool you down before you swoon and faint!!!

This book was captivating!!! I loved every aspect of it from the main characters of Lizzie and Theo, to their wonderfully bumpy love story to their HEA ending.   A true story of how opposites can attract, only to find that they really complete each other.  Annika Martin…..I’m looking for more of your books.  And to the readers……don’t miss it.  I’m serious!!  DON’T MISS IT!

Lizzie hasn’t even met Mr. Drummond yet, but she can already tell you all about him:

I’ve never met the notorious Mr. Drummond, but evidence of his assholery is all around.

The employees here are fearful, as though they’re expecting to be fired at any moment, or maybe beheaded. The environment is sleek gray marble and steel, like an elegant and slightly futuristic prison. No outside decorations are allowed, not even in the deepest recesses of your cubicle.

Even the outside of the building is unforgiving—a mod gray concrete bunker with rectangular windows arranged in straight rows. A study in harsh geometry.

Mr. Drummond doesn’t like decorations, my manager Sasha told me once. Vossameer is about lifesaving solutions, not party streamers.

I’d brought a giant tub of home-baked frosted cookies to share my second day, and people nearly fell out of their chairs. It turns out we can’t bring treats to share. Ever.

This is a workplace, not a potluck, Sasha said.

I’ve gotten good at sensing the jerky DNA of Mr. Drummond’s statements, and I’m pretty sure that was one of them. Same with the party streamers comment. It’s something about the sheer jerkiness of it, and also, how Sasha changes her voice to sound breathless and intense.

Everyone here is obsessed with Mr. Drummond. They seem to regard him the way the ancients regarded the gods that controlled the weather and plagues. Angry and vengeful, yet glorious. Never to be spoken ill of.

Also, nobody talks about Mr. Drummond without using the word “amazing” at least once. Maybe that’s in the employee manual somewhere.

Sasha’s obsession goes way further—more into awestruck love territory.

She speaks his name like she’s whispering hallowed secrets to the Greek oracles atop Mount Olympus—Mr. Drummond this, Mr. Drummond that. Amazing Mr. Drummond.

“Mr. Drummond is not the most sociable person in the world,” Sasha breathlessly informed me the day I started. “He has extremely high standards—for himself and for his employees—but his amazing breakthroughs save lives every day. The work we do to support him makes that possible.” And then she’d looked me deeply in the eyes and said, This is the most important job you’ll ever have.

I’d just nodded while making a mental note to stay away from any brightly colored liquid.
