Melt for You
(Slow Burn #2)

Four and a half, slow burn and melting Stars!!!
****1/2

What can one say when opposites attract but their souls are already alike?  The undeniable draw that keeps pulling you towards another person even when you are not sure why.  You’ve convinced yourself that you’ve been in love with someone else all this time, but it takes this one special person to show your soul what it has been trying to tell you all this time. ….that you are worthy of love; but to wait for that one person meant for you that will show you that you are worthy.  Not the perfect person you think you see, that you think you love,  but the one that your soul calls to and your heart listens for a  response.

Joellen Bixby and Cameron McGregor are two such people.   Thrown together as neighbors in Melt for You (Book #2 in J. T. Geissinger’s Slow Burn series), Joellen accepts the help of her new neighbor, super sexy, hot and handsome soccer player, Cam McGregor to win the love and affection of her boss, Michael Maddox, CEO of Maddox Publishing.  She’s carried a torch for Michael for the ten years she’s worked there and has gotten nowhere with him.  (Well in Joellen’s defense, she hasn’t had the best confidence instilled in her by her parents growing up.  You know the kind.  Always criticizing how you look, what you eat, what you do…..you get the idea…..a real confidence breaker.)  So Cam assures her, under his guidance, Michael will be Joellen’s conquest.  But somewhere along the way,  with all their sweet and sexy banter, the romantic dinners, the barbs and tantalizing conversation they share, along with hot and brimming with sexual tension “practice” kissing, Joellen discovers her search for true love was right in front of her in the form of her  “teacher.”

And Cameron?  Is this a new “sport” for him to enjoy or is it the real deal?   As the reader, we’re not sure, but I think that was the whole point of the author’s approach to this story.  We always know where Joellen’s head is at, since it’s written from her perspective.  But we’re just like her in the story.  We’re not sure what is going on with Cam and why he is so into “teaching” Joellen to be seductive and sexy.  As we watch these two traverse a bumpy path to love, just like Joellen we wonder what’s up with this man.

Now, some may find this approach a little like keeping them in the dark since we have become accustomed to reading the perspective from each of the main characters, but to me it added a bit of mystery to the story.  You can’t always tell a book by its cover, and just like Michael Maddox who was polished and professional and handsome to a fault, we find he isn’t what he appears to be.  The same is true for Cam.  Yes, he’s handsome, but in a very rustic way.  He’s loud and brash at times.  He’s direct and tells it like it is.  He’s covered in tattoos.  He wears a kilt and hardly ever a shirt, let alone a suit.  Who is this man????  However, I believe it’s a balance of good and bad and letting the reader figure that out just as Joellen does.

We all have authors we look for when we are presented with a list of books to read.  I know.  I have my favorites, but I don’t believe I’ve ever read a book by J. T. Geissinger before.  How have I missed her?  I truly enjoyed Melt for You, so much so, that I'm going to go back and read the first book in this series.   And you know what?  I’m looking for this author’s name from now on.
