Katy Regnery has a new series, The Story Sisters. From what I understand, her legions of fans have been reading about this family through another series, Blueberry Lane. In this first book, The Bohemian and the Businessman, Regnery tackles a couple of things and we are able to see a new series take hold.

Priscilla Story had 4 other sisters... She was born into a Blue Blood Family... one that expected her to follow all the society rules, be the perfect little girl and have only one ambition... marry the Correct Blue Blood man. This was the dictates from her overbearing father and mother alike...

But Priscilla wasn't wired that way... she was a free spirit from the start... and as she grew up, she fit into her family less and less. She was artistic, talented and loved to roam the country seeing nature and parks.

It was during an internship at the family business were Priscilla and Shane Olson cross paths.

Shane comes from an entirely different background then Priscilla. He came from good solid folks who ran a dairy farm. Times were not always easy...sometimes food and electricity scarce... His brothers felt an understanding of living the Farm life... up at dawn, milking and taking care of the cows... cold weather/hot didn't matter.

Shane, though, wanted more... He wanted to never feel hungry or have to work in the conditions his family did...He showed intellect and promise. He focus very early on ...on how to get out of his current circumstances and become a success. He won scholarships and earned the right to go to boarding school at 14. After that, he never looked back. For every school needed to get to his goal of high society and the "perfect life", he won full tuition.

There was a lesson to be learned with this path at such an early age...Shane wanted so much to fit in with all these wealthy society kids...And at one point he thought he was accepted.... on to find out he was the punchline of a nasty joke.

So when interning at the office for her dad... Priscilla does everything to drive Shane nuts. Making sure her top is pulled as low as it could go... Loving the blush and awkward reaction every time... making Priscilla smirk....

Fast forward a few years...

Priscilla broke all family tradition and left with a man who she met through the company... to France! He woo'd her, told her he loved her and when she moved to his country fully invested...

She finds out in one fell swoop...He's Married!

Oh, he thinks this not an issue at all...
but when she realizes Mother Nature has created a little one...
He shows all his true colors...Ugly

So Back to the homestead... back to the father who thinks of the daughters as pawns. Priscilla is informed her sister is coming with Shane... and it is hinted Shane is popping the question to her loving sister.

Wow... When the sis ter and Shane come to the house, Priscilla surprises them at the door...She is given a sweet welcome from her sis and they talk carefully about why she is back... Priscilla doesn't share her condition...she will tell her later.

The domineering father starts up with Priscilla just before dinner causing her to not attend... but she is close by when she hears all of the drama that happens...

It seems the sister does not want a loveless marriage of convenience with Shane...She slams him down and leaves the table. The father tells Shane he needs to get the girl in line... if he doesn't no VP position for Shane...and that has been what Shane has wanted all along...

Hearing all what the father said... laying it out that if Shane doesn't marry into the family...then no promotion... Priscilla sees an answer to both of their prayers...

A deal is struck where it will business only... Shane gets the position he wants and Priscilla gets her trust fund and can provide for the future baby.

There is only one little problem for the both of them... They are both attracted to each other... and are scared to death as to what that means...

This is crafted and done with a sure hand... there are a couple surprises to enjoy and it is easy to hate the father and his old fashioned ways. This is the supposed opposites attracting with it revealing the essence of them is really closer than anyone would think. Enjoyable.
