A Review by Diane

Rules of Payne was a different kind of book to read. It was quick-witted enough, but the structure of the chapters was split between the two major characters, Morgana Drake and Henrik Payne. Now a lot of books I read do that, but these were long blocks to read for one perspective before they bounced back to the other character and I had trouble sticking with the book because of that.
I loved Morgana’s POV which basically set the foundation of the story, and dealt with all her ups and downs. In fact I found her absolutely hilarious at times. The other half of the book was told from Henrik Payne’s POV (and a royal pain in the @$$ I might add), and I’m not sure I was a real fan of him and all his rules. I think it was because he didn’t want to have another sexual harassment suit brought against him???!!! What’s with that???
The story itself had substance, with tons of humorous moments, and plenty of steamy romance, but even with all of that, I just couldn’t connect with the characters. I know it sounds a little indecisive to like a story but not the characters, but that’s how it came across to me.
Thank you for your kind words. I am a bit surprised you got a very old cover of the book. Were you not provided the updated cover and images? Please contact me if you think there might be an issue.
