Review The Certainty of Violet & Luke (The Coincidence 5) by Jessica Sorensen

A Review by Beverly

The Certainty of Violet & Luke (The Coincidence, #5)The Certainty of Violet & Luke by Jessica Sorensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

Violet and Luke have had nothing but heartache and turmoil most of their lives. In the last two books we saw Violet and Luke come together over their troubled past, and then learn that Luke’s mother may be linked to Violet’s parent’s death.

Certainty begins with Luke trying to protect Violet, since she is quickly spiraling out of control.

I feel horrible saying this, but Violet’s behavior in this book exhausted me. I understand she has been through hell and back, but I am not sure how much really changed since book one. Other than Violet’s behavior becoming more reckless and selfish. I loved how Luke got back and on track and fought to make things better for Violet.

This is a hard series to read, there are not any puppies, cotton candy, or cute kittens - No this story is about two people who are struggling to survive and find themselves. Violet and Luke have let the past define who they are and what they will become. I think that is why I was so frustrated when Violet was spiraling out of control.

Despite my frustration with Violet, I did love the full circle she made and when she had her moment of clarity. I know a lot people will steer away from depressing or emotional reads, but in the end it was worth it.

I will end with my favorite quote from the book:

“Shit happens, shapes our lives, but doesn’t have to shape who we are.”
