This tale had country music dreams, ranching responsibilities, and a main fella who was almost too good to be true. He loved his roots but wanted to be his own man and venture out to fight for his dream of being a singer/songwriter. He had the voice, looks and old school charm which made the total package an easy sell. He found a manager who saw his talent and knew what to do to push his career forward. Sounds easy, right... he will sing a bit and be discovered ... find a gal and HEA is on its way.
Well... yes and no...
Our guy's manager is a sexy gal who knows the business and is guiding him with a sure hand... she is protecting him from sex crazed fans and setting up a career making opportunity as an opening act for a major tour. These things are all good... the hiccup is both of them have a desire for each other which is causing frustration... because... he needs to know... is she really into him... and she is fighting to keep her distance and remain business only.
She has a painful past... her lines blurred the last time she managed a singer and the scars from the experience never healed...without the support of her family....those meant to love unconditionally, she was abandoned and turned away... she hurt more from that then by the original sinner.
They are becoming close... writing songs and feeling connected...a kiss takes place blowing wild open the true nature of these wants...
With a family need, our guy must return to the ranch to help out... family comes before anything else. She decides to follow him there for the week...helping him and staying close by.... naturally things end up going to another level....
The message I got from this story was all things can be forgiven if you confront them honestly... and move on... if you have someone who loves you... and wants to be there for you... both of you can over come anything... Well, in theory this should be the case... and this tale tried to demonstrate it through these characters.
The main fella was a wonder... when he fell for his gal.... it was a crash.... she was equally into him and the times together were fierce... there were hints of alpha commanding sex... and I could see him being a really good guy... she was strong yet hurt ... she had to fight to allow herself to let him in... but when it happened it was all systems go.
This is part of a series and you could see where others were being presented for their own tales down the line. It wasn't heavy handed... just enough to make you wonder and want to know more.
