Review
What a dark, depressing and beautiful story. That sums up this book in a nutshell. It left me speechless and at times with a heavy heart, I had to put the book down and re-group myself. The author had an ability to tear at my heart and question the sanity of our world today. She brought to light the sick and twisted world which prey on children and how devastating this can be to those children while growing up.
How does someone survive those traumatic events from childhood? Do they turn into their tormentors and in turn become the tormentor to others? Do they continue the abuse on themselves by gravitating to others who like to abuse? Do they ever stop blaming themselves for the crimes of their elders? Can they ever find true love and live a normal life?
This book touches each of these questions through the story of Charlie and Nate – two best friends who were thrown into years of trauma and pain and then violently torn apart. They are made to suffer for the crimes of others and each deal with their pain in different ways – one healthy and one in a downward spiral.
Years later they meet again and is one of them strong enough to save the other?
You’ll just have to read and find out?
Wrap-Up
Emotions you don’t even know exist will hit you while reading….a very traumatic and thought provoking book which will have you broken and crying out for vengeance. This is a must read!
