 Synopsis

Sometimes doing the wrong thing feels so right...

I'm a player. I'm an asshole. I'm someone you should stay away from.

I have demons.
I've made mistakes.
And the biggest can't be taken back.

I've gone to hell and back in twenty-nine years and I'm only now coming to terms with moving forward, righting my wrongs, and making amends. Except not everyone deserves forgiveness. Sometimes the damage done is beyond repair.
Everyday is exactly the same. I focus on the pain, in the quest to feel and forget, but I remember everything. When I close my eyes the darkness encroaches and some days it feels like the things that kill me are the things that make me feel alive.

*Ridge, like Wild, is a standalone.
Reading Wild first will provide some back story, but is not required to read Ridge

Review

You know – I normally read stories about the girl in the story being a big whiney, crybaby and it irritates the shit out of me – but this book took the cake.  Instead of it being Mia who whined and cried about her unfortunate circumstances it was Ridge.  After a bit, I got a little tired of hearing about all his problems.

Yeah, I got it – it hurt him to leave Mia and break things off but then why continue on a downward spiral?  Self mutilation – mutilation towards others, Ridge was about to self-destruct and all he could think about was Mia.  She didn’t leave him – he left her.  This story just didn’t grip me the whole time reading.  Don’t get me wrong – I didn’t hate the book – I liked the book – I really did but it got to a point where I just had to roll my eyes every time Ridge would play the “whoa is me” card.  I wanted to scream at him through my e-reader and tell him to “wise the fuck up – dump Amy – explain things to your brother and go after Mia”.

Do you think he listened to me?  HELL NO….he chose to continue self destructing.

I will tell you what I did love about Ridge and that was his powerful kinky side!  Man that was mind blowing and thigh clenching hotness.  I also loved Mia ---- there really isn’t any words to describe because even though she plays a big part in the book – there isn’t much interaction between her and Ridge until the end.

Amy – I’m not even going to go there….*basket-case*

Re-Cap

Ridge decides that what he and Mia did to his older brother was inconceivable and to make things right – he breaks off with Mia.  He goes on a binge of exercise, drinking and having sex with any woman he crosses but it still doesn’t wipe away the pain of losing Mia.

He then gets the crazy idea that maybe he can have a relationship with a woman and she will be able to fill the void in his heart.  In comes Amy who falls fast and hard for Ridge but the connection just isn’t there for Ridge – so many times he wants to end things with Amy but she refuses to let go of their fucked up relationship.  While she continually forgives him and puts up with him being an asshole to her, one incident is finally the deal breaker.  No it wasn’t the cheating or the abuse in the bedroom…..and once again Ridge finds himself alone and knowing he will never be happy unless Mia is in his life.

Wrap-Up

I enjoyed the dark parts of this book and the author’s writing style is beyond magnificent.

Behind every beautiful thing, there is some kind of pain...

Always overlooked. Always just there. That's what Dillon was to me.

Until one night.

In one night she flipped my world on its axis and there's no going back. But she has secrets, and secrets fester like an open wound. They color the past and forecast the future, but I'm determined to open her up; free her from her memories so she can live in the light and have the life she deserves.

It's just too bad that she wants nothing to do with me. But I'm nothing if not persistent and I'm not a man that gives up without a fight. I've had a taste and there's no walking away.
I just have to convince her that I'm not what she fears, I'm what she wants.

Slade, like Wild and Ridge, is a standalone.
Reading Wild and Ridge first will provide some back story, but is not required to read Slade.
