Synopsis

English teacher Katrina Page’s patience is put to the test when sexy detective Dillon Adler saunters into her classroom forty-five minutes late for parent-teacher conferences. Their first meeting is anything but amicable—but they’re soon together again in an entirely different and more unpleasant situation.

When Dillon responds to a home invasion and assault, the last person he expects to see is his son’s fiery-tempered—and damn attractive—teacher, who has been haunting his thoughts since he aggravated her only days before.

It soon becomes clear that Katrina’s attacker’s intentions are far more sinister than anyone initially realized and Dillon and Katrina’s time together becomes a necessity. But as the investigation heats up and their attraction mounts, Dillon is faced with a choice. Ignore the rules about getting involved with a witness—or risk it all for love.

Review

Well, Ms. Finn, you did it again.  You took me on a ride which had me scratching my head in speculation, squirming in my chair with the hot, steamy sex scenes, raising my fist at the utter stupidity of Dillon and rooting for Katrina to get her man!

Plus you gave me the one thing that I love most in books – An Epilogue.  I love finding out how the future pans out for our hero and heroine.  I could close that chapter in my heart knowing that Katrina and Dillon each, whether together or apart, both got their HEA.

This book was so unlike “Unforgiven” and introduced us to Ms. Finn’s writing in the genre of romantic suspense.  She hit the mark perfectly, but I did find myself skimming through a few of the sex scenes.  It wasn’t that they were boring, because that is the furthest from the truth; instead it seemed at some points to take away from the story. This is only my opinion and is typical for me to skim through these.

Re-Cap

Katrina is an English teacher in junior high and her first meeting with Dillon is full of snide comments and angry words.  Something sticks though with the two of them, for Katrina it is his hot sexy ass and Dillon can’t get Kat out of his sexual dreams.

They meet again when Kat is confronted by a break-in and an assault in her house.  Dillon is the detective who is called out to take over the case.  The sexual tension is high between them and the need to protect overwhelms Dillon.  Their feelings towards each other escalate but Dillon holds fast to the rule of not being able to form any type of personal relationship with a witness.  The two see-saw back and forth between boundaries until Dillon just can’t take it anymore.  He wants Katrina and it’s more than just sexual; he can see himself setting up a future with her and his son.

Well, that is if he can keep her alive while there is a psycho out there wanting to rape and kill her.  Between incriminating photographs, answering machine messages, fires, stalking and prying eyes, Dillon just doesn’t know if it’s in the cards for him and Katrina.

Wrap-Up

Overall, this is a very enjoyable book and I was held captive by the storyline and the suspense of who the hell is tormenting our heroine.  The climax is heart-stopping and the relationship between our main characters is wild and sweet.
