No Good Duke Goes Unpunished by Sarah MacLean

A Review By Wendy

4 Rogue, Duke, Sarah MacLean Stars * * * *

I happened onto the Author Sarah McLean when I first started reading romance. She had been doing her Rules series and I was so taken by her style and cheekiness. She did things in her historical's which took my breath away. I felt all of the thrill and excitement of a current relationship but in a very different time period then my own.

Her women were inventive; intelligent; able to work within the structure of the times, yet groundbreaking in their own way. The men who would love them were strong, independent, complex and yet capable to confront and deal with whatever obstacles these women threw at them.

And the romance, actions and feelings they had were so intense they jumped off the page.

Which brings me to No Good Duke Goes Unpunished. This is the third segment of the latest series.
This book involves Temple, a duke who has been labeled a killer due to an experience 12 years ago. The question which has tortured him all these years is his not really knowing if he was a "Killer Duke" or not. He has been part of the motley crew of Titled men with situations causing them to be outcast from the Ton. Together all 4 of them have banded together to create the gaming hell, The Fallen Angel.

Temple's story has pathos, betrayal, vengeance and desire for redemption. It also has the realization things are not always what they seem; sometimes we can make our own reality and be happier for it.

I happened to enjoy the story but was not as taken with this segment as I had with previous ones. There was the pleasant familiarity of the cast of characters from the last books but I did not take to the story or the female lead. Temple, however, was just as powerful and in may ways heartbreaking.

Ms. MacLean, however, made sure to tantalize her readers of the this series. Her brilliant hint to the last part of this tale should keep her fans anxiously waiting for her next publication. I know I am.

Sarah MacLean is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of YA and adult romance.
She grew up in Rhode Island, where she spent much of her free time bemoaning the fact that she was more than a century too late for own Season. Her unabashed addiction to historical fiction helped to earn her a degree in European History from Smith College before she moved to New York City to pursue a career in publishing. After receiving a Masters in Education from Harvard University, Sarah returned to New York, where she lives with her husband, their dog, and a ridiculously large collection of romance novels.
