3.5 Making Things Better Stars

In this current world of ours, we see all these celebrities, actors and musical talents through this filter of perfection...With Instagram, Twitter, and any other social media happening, it is out there for all to see how these "stars" are living large. But when things actually come down to it...No one really knows what is going on behind the scenes. What deals were made for the exposure, who is fronting as boyfriend to promote the next single and who has wrapped their greedy hand around a singer with threats and intimidation...

With this entry, Edge (Guarding Her #3) by Anna Brooks all of these elements are under the microscope.
This is part of a series, however, I did not read any of the other books and never felt lost.

This opens up with Wes having to deal with an emotional experience of his own. He has just confirmed he has been betrayed and humiliated for years by his childhood sweetheart and is confronting the situation...it is not the prettiest way but he feels it is necessary to get the point across.

Three months later and we are sitting in on the meeting with his next client. Wes is part of the Royal Ace Security company and they are the top of the line in their field. They do political targets, heiresses and superstars who are in need of their full range of services. They do not come cheap because they are the real deal...covering any need a client may have.

Sitting across from the owner of the company and Wes is superstar Quinn. She is a triple threat; pop star, actress and dancer. She has been at this for a very long time and has a huge following. She recently had a stalker break into her house and hold her at knife point. She is terrified it will happen again and her Manager/Aunt has made light of it. Quinn has taken a huge step by coming to Royal on her own without Gail knowing. She is that frightened.

As Wes sits and listens to what Quinn is saying while observing her, he realizes something striking. This woman is nothing like the images and stories put out there. She is sweet, a bit shy and very kind. She is a star but it would be easy to confuse her with another in how interested she is in what they are saying... her ego is not out of control and her questions are perfectly sensible.

But there is something else happening behind her eyes which is making Wes concerned...something that shows more than the normal fear of a stalker situation...something she is dealing with on a day to day basis.

Wes takes over from the start informing Quinn of how things are going to go done from here on out. He explains she goes No Where without him. Period. All security concerns will be run through him.

When he has his first exchange with Gail, Quinn knows sh!t will hit the fan. Gail took over raising Quinn when her mother died and has been controlling her ever since. Quinn has been the golden goose for Gail and she is not about to let anyone cut her out...not even a huge alpha like Wes.

As things adjust and adapt to the new security ways Wes has instituted, Quinn and him get closer and closer. She touches his soul in how much he wants to protect her. He sees how she has been manipulated by Gail and wants to stop it... but there is something Gail has over Quinn and Quinn feels helpless to share what it is.

There is a closeness and kinda insta feel between these two and before you know it, Wes is losing his professional stance and falling hard for his client. He will stop at nothing to protect her and make her his.

This had all of the alpha romance, suspense, villainous twists and serious sexy times readers like. It did have a bit of repetition in how he was not going to let anything happen...but over all it was a security focused tale to enjoy. There were added sub-plots and insight to the other guys with Royal to perk interest in their books.
