Return to You (The Montgomery Brothers, #4) by Samantha Chase

A Review by Wendy
4 Working out the Truths Stars

Samantha Chase continues her Montgomery Brothers series with a tale of how two people can be the victims of misinformation and learn to open their hearts no matter how painful it can be.

We have James Montgomery who chaffed at being directed how to live his life and be another part of the family firm. He fought the strong domineering ways of his family and left to live a plainer life. Always good with his hands and a keen awareness for plants... he worked his way up to be a landscaper by 20...a little dirt never bothered him. The kids around the small town he was in had no idea he was part of the Montgomery clan... they just thought he was that sort of bad boy....and that was how Selena met him.

Selena was that young fresh senior high beauty he saw everyday. One day they both end up talking and just like that... they became a couple... she running and meeting up with him whenever she could. This develops into the sweet love of the young... planning to marry, to be together and live a wonderful life. But things never go as planned and both are torn apart... both seriously heartbroken from it and both not being able to let it go... even after 10 years have passed.

Now they are different people then those young fresh lovers... now James is with the police force and Selena is an event planner. Both successful in their careers... both crappy in their love lives. Selena's best friend reaches out to her under the need for the 10 year High School reunion. Mysterious funds have been given... and the event can take place after all.

Selena gives in and travels out to where she knows she will end up seeing James. Both have to steel themselves for the meeting and we know this will not be easy.

What happens next is something no one planned on... Her best friend Jen seems to have an ex boyfriend stalker... and he is breaking into her house where Selena is staying. James is called out to check on the situation and right away Selena and James have this resurrected passion brewing under the surface. This spark continues until both of them will either kill each other or come together. It is the talking and clearing the air of their past which must take place... this is the hurdle and both know it must be done.

I zoomed through reading this book. The story was layered with the lies of the past told to each of them by different people... people who stepped in to make what they wanted happen...It was not an easy road for these two but I appreciated the realism. I also liked the thriller aspect, too. It wasn't over the top but it gave the read a little more weight.

If you like tales about families, lost loves and second chances then this is definitely a winner for you.

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.
