Synopsis

Branson Wellington? The name, my name, is usually followed by arrogant prick or self-serving bastard, and I can't say I haven't earned those titles. It's true. I'm not the good guy. I'm not the boy next door. I'm definitely not your Prince fucking Charming. Not even close.

And I never wanted to be. Until her. The day I pulled her from the wreckage was the day that my life changed.

Who would have thought that one little lie had the power to throw two lives off course?
Love has never been in the cards for me, but now that she’s here, I have no idea how I’m ever going to let her go. Even if I don’t deserve her.

Because like I said, I’m a self-serving bastard and some things never change.

Permanently Yours Stars

I met Branson Wellington in Combust and honestly I thought he was a pretty big tool. I mean he stole his brother’s girlfriend and married her, and then he turned into a self-centered drunk. So yeah, needless to say I wasn’t a Branson fan. I am however a Tessa Teevan fan, so I was on board for the crazy that Conflagration would bring.

The story begins with us meeting Ariana Covington. She is engaged to be married when she overhears a conversation with her fiancĂ©, and decides this isn’t the life she wants. She is more then a trophy wife, she wants to be loved, to be someone’s equal. She decides to runaway, with no plan she drives from Atlanta to Tennessee. Her road trip is halted when she is involved in a horrible car accident in Nashville, TN. Trapped in the car she is preparing for this to be the end, until a man comes to rescue her, a man she knows.

Branson doesn’t usually do the right thing, but he is trying to be a better man and he can’t just leave a women in a car to burn to death. Once he determines he is going to save the girl, he puts everything into saving her. When he makes eye contact it is like he knows her, but can’t remember where or how he would.

As it turns out the two of them met months ago in Atlanta, and during that one night they changed each other’s lives…gave each other hope.

"If you don’t want anyone else to give up on you, you can’t give up on yourself…"

Branson is able to rescue Ari, but as a result both are injured when the car blows up. Ari wakes up at the hospital and is anxious to see how Branson is, but they will only release information to family, looking down at her engagement ring Ari gets the idea to say she is engaged. Her plan is just to make sure he is okay and then leave. Things blow up when his entire family comes and catches her in the act of pretending to be his fiancé.

So, why would these two continue this charade? Well, for starts Ari is on the run and now that she doesn’t have a vehicle she has nowhere to go. She also remembers Branson from the one night they met and wants to help him, hell she owes him after he saved her life. Despite Branson coming off as a complete tool, he cares about what his family thinks, and wants to make them proud of him.

They decide to enter into their fake engagement/relationship, but of course things get messy when they are forced to live together to help Branson rehabilitate. Once Branson and Ari begin living together things get pretty heated. They have a lot of chemistry and it isn’t long until they are sleeping together, and developing real feelings.

I absolutely loved these two together. They are paired up perfectly. Ari is the exact opposite of Branson’s ex Megan, she is carefree, loving, protective and Branson is the opposite of Ari’s ex and wants her to be his equal. Even while these two had a pretend relationship, we didn’t get any insta-love. The couple’s feelings developed over time and it made complete sense figuring the amount of time they spent together. Branson made a total transformation in my mind, and I seriously love him! He is dominating, but also loving, funny, and protective.

As always I have to report back on the steam factor and it was super hot. I love me a dirty talker, and Branson didn’t disappoint. Conflagration just goes to show the Wellington brothers get better with age.

“This is crazy. This is real. This is love. This is my new life. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Excerpt

As the blackness starts to fade away, I see that white light, but it doesn’t really look like that tunnel. No, it’s just a scene change, and if I could muster up enough strength, I’d groan because there are things in my life I’d rather not relive. It’s bad enough that I have the memories and have been dealing with the fallout for far too long. Reliving it all over again is more agonizing than the first time around, because now, I know the truth. I betrayed my brother in the worst possible way when he’d done nothing wrong, but by the time I found out, it was far too late.

So why am I having these flashbacks playing in slow motion? I thought when you were on death's door, your life was supposed to flash before your eyes. So why am I replaying every single mistake I've ever made as if it were the first time—in slow motion instead of quick bursts? Maybe my life did flash before my eyes and it happened so fast that I missed it. Maybe I’m dead after all and this? This is my hell.

Author Bio

Tessa Teevan_Author Photo I'm a twenty something book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and have been married to my own book boyfriend for over seven years. We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.

If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.
