His To Keep (Out of Uniform 1.5) By Katee Roberts

A Review By Wendy
4 Sacrificing, Determined, Very Satisfying
* * * *

I have been very fortunate in my life to have two terrific sons. I raised them in a two parent family, yet my late husband's position had him traveling and away for quite a bit of time. This caused the feeling of sometimes going it alone... trying to figure out how to deal with the kids and All that can mean... making sure they are doing the homework, getting them to their practices... just being on call 24/7. I mention this not as a ploy for any reason... just to explain how empathic I am to single moms. I was not one... as I did have a partner... and he was a there connecting with the boys/men. But there were many times it was difficult... so because those times... I can appreciate and send mad respect to all the amazing moms out there doing it on their own... and doing it well.

We meet Marcy Bellini at her friend's Bri's wedding party... wishing she was home with her little 3 year old girl, Claire. Where her friends have razzed her to step out... Marcy is longing for the safety and comfort of snuggles with Claire.... where the teasing and checking out the men is encouraged for her... she knows the only checking out she has been an expert in is the toddler clothing aisle at Walmart. Oh, she had desires and needs... gave them to an ex who on learning his girlfriend was pregnant, left and joined the Corps without a glance back. Nope, Marcy had her daughter... her job and that was going to be enough.

Yet... there was this yearning and she always stifled it. She had known HIM forever... he was her best friend's brother after all. He was handsome... a little older and he teased her all the time using her real name Marceline. She hated that and with the teasing, he would always be there unless he was overseas in the Army fighting. She got older and  attached her self to the ex.... while he watched and wished for an opportunity. He tried to help her when shit hit the fan... wanting to be there for her... but by then... Marcy had shut down. Her only focus was to finish college and take care of Claire. And take care of Claire, she did. She knew she did right... watching out for her, loving her and making sure Claire knew she was loved. But deep down, Marcy wondered during those hidden moments was she ever going to be loved?

Marcy's He is Aaron Robinson and he has been carrying the torch for his Marceline forever. He has watched from a distance; looked out for her and his love for all she is and what she has accomplished all by herself has simmered to the point of boiling. He is watching her being goaded in to drinking shots; he is seeing a friend bring his Marine Corp grandson to meet her... and this has tipped the boiling to becoming Mt. Vesuvius erupting in him. He works his way over to the bar... making sure the pompous ass can see him coming...he slides up behind Marcy and gives the eye and glare to the guy... staking his claim. After a stare down... the kid leaves causing Marcy to confront Aaron with tipsy annoyance. She is really pissed and tells him he blew her opportunity to have some fun and hook up. He is so stunned when she says that.....and then continues with what "are you gonna do about it..", he grabs her arm taking her outside of the bar...

What happens next is off the charts hot, overwhelming and oh so good; for the both of them. He wants more - to really make the connection and hopefully have this be a relationship. She is first shocked as hell she even did this; freaking because it was so damn good and is already in the process of shutting down because this is not her life... she is Claire's mom and this does not fit the program.

Katee Robinson worked magic. She took a tale, laced it with incredibly hot encounters, added the conflicts of single motherhood and sewed it up tight with us wanting them to be together. She gave them a real history so it wasn't insta-lust but burning, smouldering want and need for years. The chemistry worked; the conflicts worked and I, for one enjoyed it.

If you are looking to spend a little time... get into the moment and feel some heat... this little nugget of Brazen goodness will do the trick.
