Synopsis

After Evan Arden was imprisoned by the enemy for a year and a half, he returned from the desert as a military hero. He’d suffered some minor injuries during his captivity, was discharged from the Marines with just a touch of shellshock, but was considered otherwise unharmed. Now he wonders how he ended up where he is now – incarcerated in Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center for using his sharp shooting expertise to take out the neighborhood park with a high-powered sniper rifle and multiple rounds of ammunition.

Lia Antonio, the woman he rescued from the desert heat the previous year, is the only person who can bring him out of his sleep-deprived psychosis and mounting PTSD. When she does, Evan knows he can’t just let her go again. He’s never considered leaving the business before – who retires from the mafia? – but he’s determined to get both Lia and himself out of harm’s way.

Evan faces forces from multiple directions as a deal to get him out of jail turns more deadly and dangerous than he ever could have imagined. With a three-way mob war on the horizon and the feds holding evidence over his head, Evan has no choice but to throw himself into the middle of another war-zone.

Reading Order

Review

I am really sorry to see this series end, but “All Good Things Must Come to an End”. I enjoyed Evan from the moment I started reading about him, his dog and his gun! I fell in love with Lia and how carefree she is and loyal to Evan without even knowing who the hell he really is.

 ****SPOILER ALERT****
You are probably asking me why I only rated this book 4 Stars then? Well, I have a good reason ----- I was pissed that Evan let another woman fondle and kiss him repeatedly even though it was part of his job.

I also got a bit frustrated at Lia for constantly standing by Evan’s side without demanding answers as quickly as she did.

Then there were the parts that kinda felt a bit lackluster to me. I know we needed a HEA with this story but I found it a bit unbelievable that Evan could “retire” from the mob without being 6 feet under.

And the BIGGEST REASON is Odin died

****END OF SPOILER ALERT****

Enough said about that.

Again I want to stress that I loved this series and went through all the emotions a good book is capable of giving. I laughed, I cringed, I sniffled, I got pissed, I got happy, I got pissed again and again.

It was a great roller-coaster of a ride!!

Re-Cap

Evan is in jail after shooting up the park….was it just a dream that he saw Lia while being hauled off by the cops? His doctor wants to help and Evan wants to sleep. How is it possible for a criminal to get the service he needs in order to sleep? Why, how else? But through Lia? Evan’s doctor sees how Evan is around Lia and how calm and at peace he seems to be.

But how can Evan get out of jail and protect Lia? An opportunity opens up to him but he must make his fatherly mob boss believe that Evan has been disloyal and is now working for the opposing team. This just doesn’t put Evan into harms way but also Lia. Evan tries to keep secrets but is unable to hide anything from Lia and when he thinks she may run away….he is surprised to learn that Lia can accept his past. That is as long as Evan gets out of this life he leads.

Now how the hell is Evan going to retire from the mob? I always thought the only way you retire is 6 feet underground.

Follow Evan while he tries to get information from the Russian family while he plays sharp shooter for them. Then follow him as he continues to suffer from his PTSD that is only getting worse and worse. It’s not enough for Lia to battle the demons for Evan, he must figure out why he is being plagued by a teenage boy.

Wrap-Up

This is a fast paced story that is full of suspense and thrills along with being a romantic (as best as Evan can be) love story. It absolutely killed me when Evan said that he never heard the words “I love you” said to him nor did he ever say to them to another.

My heart melted when he said those words to Lia Pick this series up and enjoy a story told from a man’s POV who suffers from PTSD and works for the mob!
