**BORROWING ALEX was previously published by Amber Quill Press in 2007 and has been revised and updated for the 2013 Blue Orchard Books edition. This second edition also includes two additional scenes.
This book is a fast paced, cute, funny romance about 2 unexpected people falling in love.
Why not 5 Stars?
I enjoyed this book immensely for the first 95% but then I just couldn't get my heart around the ending...to me it was a bit cheesy and unbelievable.
Nikki has been engaged to Royce and he hasn't committed to setting a date for their wedding. She suspects that he is holding off because he wants to obtain partner in her father's office but wants to give him the benefit of doubt.
So, she comes up with this cockamamie plan to kidnap his best-man, Alex, and leave Royce a note stating that her and Alex are going away to have a "fling". So she kidnaps Alex and brings him to her cabin on the lake. What Nikki doesn't realize, is how she starts feeling about Alex.
Alex, on the other hand has been fed lies by Royce about Nikki and he in turn realizes that Nikki isn't the bubble headed, party girl that Royce led him to believe. In fact, Alex starts to appreciate Nikki's intelligence, pride, love of animals and especially her warm loving heart.
Nikki's animals are extraordinarily funny along with her antics and "outside the box" thinking! The best part of the whole book is the kidnap scene....I chuckled through the whole thing!
If you are looking for a light read...then this book is for you!
