(Warning: Review is Short, the Love of Penny Reid's Crafting is Long)

Loved Hank Hardcore, Charlotte was a perfect match for him, and this book made me smile. So, as I warned, the actual review part for this specific book was short.
But my continuing love for Penny Reid and her ability to weave tales for us revolving around the world first created by the Winstons has grown stronger and stronger with each entry.

As someone who has been reading romance and reviewing for more than a decade, I have had my taste of continuing series with new characters that then have their own series.
It is not always a successful transition. It takes a lot of planning, and the necessary laying of the groundwork early on to tease readers in other books so that when the new series happens, everyone is primed and ready to latch on and actually be interested. That may sound easy but who can predict future trends and wants of readers...It takes true talent to understand the need to hold the course and just be true to the tales you are writing, come what may.

Penny Reid's ability to do just that has been her superpower from the start of her Knitting in the City series. She took her point of view, gave us unique engaging characters that made us think, and gave us little glimpses of everyday human feelings that we all may have experienced at one moment or another, plus the type of romance that we all long for...human, real but also a bit of fantasy.

No one written by her was perfect and not relatable. Each character had that vulnerability at some point where we could see ourselves and we were able to learn life lessons from the actions taken to resolve whatever had happened.

Oh, and all of this was done with liberal doses of humor, heart, angst, and really fun sexy times. Nothing was left out, intense feelings were paired with hysterically funny times. Sly sarcastic takes on situations were backed up with moral decisions.

So this is why I have loved all of the books by Reid because she has continued to do all of the above, no matter which series she writes for, which character she focuses on...they all are winners.

This entry hits all of these points. End of Review :D

  4. Folk Around and Find Out" by Penny Reid is an enchanting addition to the "Good Folk: Modern Folktales" series. Reid's storytelling mastery shines through as she weaves a modern-day folktale filled with wit, charm, and a touch of magic. The characters are endearing, and the narrative effortlessly transports readers into a world where the ordinary and extraordinary coexist. With every page, you're drawn deeper into a whimsical realm where the line between reality and folklore blurs, leaving you captivated and curious to find out more. This book is a delightful journey that reminds us of the enduring magic in everyday life and the enchantment that can be discovered when we allow ourselves to 'folk around and find out.
