4.5 Bombbruiser For The Win Stars

I was overjoyed to know another Brooklyn Series was coming and we had an inkling it was going to be about the Women's Hockey team. How terrific and current is that. I would expect nothing less from Sarina Bowen and her ability to educate readers about all types of hockey and their players.
Side Note: Sarina Bowen never fails to use these types of tales to explain rules, salary caps, regulations, and the way the game is played. In this story, we get an inside look at how women's sport needs to be fixed and become more equal in treatment, salaries, and respect.
We got a sincere love story that revolved around two people devoted to hockey in a healthy way. It was a straightforward tale in the way we understood who the people were and what the overall goal was, to play hockey for the Bruisers and the Bombshells. That Sophie and Anton have "A Moment, A Recognition" when they first come in contact with each other only added to they how they were meant to be.
The joke was Sophie thought her heart belonged to another, someone she had been pining for years. Her coming to Brooklyn to skate for the Bombshells was bringing her front and center to the man she thought was her future.
Anton, known as a player, had a "Come To Jesus Moment" this summer when he thought he would not be playing professional hockey if he didn't get his personal life together. He had experienced too many embarrassing incidents causing the concern of the coach and team management. He dedicated his summer to working out and getting his act together. No distractions, no women to ruin his focus on saving his position with the team.
What I love about this story was how both characters were strong and capable on the ice. Both worked to be that way and stayed focus on that. Both stayed true to who they were and in the end, everything fell into the place they needed it to. I really liked both characters.
If you love hockey, sport, and really strong storytelling then this is so for you.
