The Arizona Vengeance Series was written in current times. Sawyer Bennett presented the idea and implemented a series where each of the many entries covered the same time period, had all of these men and their personal stories and it works extremely well with the engaging backdrop of NHL. There was the race to be in the playoffs and how each of the players had to deal with many different challenges. Men met women, love happened and adjustments took place for the better.

It was during this run for the Stanley Club, Rafe was told his father is dying and his time is very limited.
Luckily, the owners of the Vengence and Cold Fury figured out how to get Rafe back to his hometown and be able to still be on the ice. This miracle happened, his father's will not.

Rafe is back home and sitting with his mom. She has been overwhelmed and Rafe's past girlfriend has been assisting her. She has a medical background and has been his mother's support system. When Callie shows up to be there for his parents, Rafe is hit by his continued love for Callie, it never left him.

When Rafe left, he thought he was doing the right thing for Callie, cutting her loose so she could pursue her medical career. Instead, this action hurt her deeply and this is what is remembered at first when she sees Rafe.

Yet, hearts do not forget their mates...This tale is a journey for Rafe and Callie, a sharing between Rafe and his Dad, and the growth of understanding what is important in this short life we have.

This story reflects the important stuff and a moment was taken by this reader to absorb it. It was worth it.
